The Inspiration
Our unique Opal Jewelry is inspired by the extraordinary stones we procure. Nicki personally sources each opal, filtering through parcels for idiosyncratic elements of beauty. She isn’t seeking perfection, but rather a special character, as it’s this unique personality that inspires her designs and shapes the story of the stones.
The Design
Once the Opal’s story becomes clear, Nicki designs a setting for the stone that complementary its narrative. Sometimes her interpretation is minimalistic and other times it's literal and detailed. She often embeds a secret inscription into her designs.
The Model
With her design concept refined, Nicki applies a reverse engineering mentality to determine the best production method to bring her vision to life. For some items that may mean hand carved waxes; other items may be better suited to CAD modeling. The stones she begins with and the final piece she envisions determine what modeling method she will use to produce the picture in her mind.
The Revisions
There are many revisions that take place along the way as we carefully craft each piece of opal jewelry. It takes weeks – sometimes months – to perfect a piece and ensure it's just right. Our goal is not mass production — our passion is crafting works of art so you can enjoy unique opal jewelry.
The Result
Once the physical piece is complete, we still need to make it available to you. Documentation begins with photography, videography, specs and physical description.
Nicki personally writes the descriptions for each
piece of jewelry you’ll find on site. She's dreamt up the story inspired by each stone, so she can best communicate it.
With imagery and copy complete, we are then ready to share our jewelry art with you.
